Back to the Basics

So you remember last week’s post that mentioned your handy-dandy basics? This post is geared towards your basics and how essential they are in regards to your wardrobe. So are your basics truly a necessity or no? Well from my own personal experiences, I can honestly say I’ve had to learn the hard way. I was so concerned or engrossed in securing "statement pieces" only, that I allowed the important ish to fall by the waist side. If only I would have had that "BASIC" crispy white button up shirt to add to bring my entire look together. Plenty of times I regretted not having a simple white tee in order to streamline my outfit as a whole, leaving behind feelings of incompleteness. Although you can never pinpoint or accurately identify the perfect shirt or perfect shoe you can rest assured they're particulars items that complement each other versus another article of clothing.

Coordination, another very important word when it comes to fashion. Coordination by definition means to make many different things comes together as a whole. Coordinating or mixing prints can go totally right or totally wrong. Trust me! You do not want the latter. Same as attempting to perfect the ultimate monochromatic look. I am in love with everything about monochromatic but if not done in the correct way, results can be disastrous. Let me give you an example; attempting to wear leopard print head to toe with the intention of creating a monochromatic look could go awry. You have leopard and then you have cheetah, I don’t believe the two look well when paired together. But that is just my opinion. You are definitely entitled to your own. Maybe you are even trying to master the art of pairing different shades of one color. That too can travel down a path not desired.

BUT my apologies, I was most certainly getting off topic. BACK TO THE BASICS! Again, your basics are very important when building a wardrobe that is functional yet cost effective. Start with your basics when building a killer wardrobe and develop from there. Your wardrobe should consist of basics such as short sleeves, long sleeves, basic sweaters, hoodies, sweatshirts, tanks, perfect fitting jeans, black/nude flats, black pumps, nude pumps plus more and expound. Your key apparel items typically never go out of style and never loses its appeal. Over time you will add your statement pieces to your wardrobe creating a look that represents you as an individual all while slaying at the same time. Your basics do not have to be overly expensive because you will wear them more often than not and they will have to be replaced sooner than later. Oh and a side note, don’t spend your last dollar on those "trendy trends" because they will literally last a day and a half losing its appeal within a short amount of time. You will absolutely regret it later when you’re throwing them in the bin labeled "good will" and you've spent an arm AND a leg. I leave these few tidbits here with you but as always if you have more direct questions, feel free to fill out my contact page or shoot me an email. I am also available to any of my fashionista’s who needs a wardrobe consultant or personal shopper, who doesn't I love a girl’s day! I can’t wait to read all of your comments and feedback listed below.

Until next time, with LOVE........~Jai
